While in England in 2000, we had the opportunity to visit Portobello Antique Market.....what wonderful shops and this is were I found this piece.
A 1850's leather sewing case with four bone instructments and a tiny pair of sterling scizzors...marked with 5 symbols.
The case is patterned leather with a beveled glass insert, brass engraved rim and lock.
The four bone pieces are a stilleto, knife, hook and needle case with screw on lid. All pieces are in beautiful condition. The instructments are all lineup in leather hoops over red velvet.....this piece lifts to reveal an accordian storage area which stretches to accommodate additional items ...this space is linged in red satin.
The case measures 4 1/2" wide by 2 1/2" long by 1 1/4" in depth.
The accordian section had a minor repair of fabric along the side....no very noticeable.
